Developing a toolbox and workshops for the content creators of the future. That is the goal of the project 'data visualization for the low-literates' of Fontys Hogeschool Journalistiek and ROC Tilburg.
The visualizations, such as graphs, that are currently used in the media are often difficult for low-literates to understand. But where does it go wrong? What do low-literate people experience when they see visualizations? And if we know that, how should it be done? This is what the two researchers Mirthe van Wijngaarden and Eva van Hout are researching. This is happening in a so-called 'werkplaats' in which ROC Tilburg and Fontys Hogeschool Journalistiek are collaborating to strengthen the bond between education and the professional field.
