The Digital Sciences for Society annual event aims to foster impactful collaboration on the interface of the digital sciences, social sciences and humanities. We do this through inspiring presentations and workshops and by providing opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing.

12.00 - 13.00: Lunch/networking
13.00 - 13.10: Welcome by Pieter Spronck, Professor of Computer Science and chair of the Tilburg AI Special Interest Group (TAISIG) and Marjolein Antheunis (to be confirmed), dean of the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences.
13.10 - 13.30: Keynote 'Shaping an Inclusive Digital Society' by Bieke Zaman, professor in Communication Sciences / Human-Computer Interaction at the KU Leuven and Director of the KU Leuven Digital Society Institute.
13.30 - 14.00: Digital Sciences for Society in progress: showcase of two Icon projects:

  • Johan Wolswinkel is Professor of Administrative Law, Market & Data at Tilburg Law School. He will tell about his research project Case-Inclusive Transparency for a Digital and Open Government (CITaDOG). The project focuses on creating a transparent and better performing government for citizens in administrative decision-making by combining a legal, technical and behavioral perspective. 
  • Nynke van der Laan is Associate professor of Digital Health Communication. She will tell about her research project DIGIQUITY4HEALTH, focusing on digital choice environments and how to prevent digitalization from exacerbating existing health inequities and instead harness its potential to promote healthy lifestyles in an equitable manner.
